3-game FanDuel MLB After Hours Slate, first pitch 9:40PM EDT. We're anchoring around Walbert Ureña with three two-man matchup pairs and a couple of leverage one-offs: an Angels duo going at Ryne Nelson, an Athletics pair attacking Jared Jones, a Rays pair sitting on lefty Eric Lauer, plus Mookie Betts and Brandon Lowe in plus spots.
On the mound, we're rolling with Walbert Ureña (P, $9,500). The 2.44 ERA is backed by real skills — a 0.65 HR/9 and an elite contact profile, just a 5.96% Barrel% and 32.5% HardHit% allowed, so hitters rarely square him up. He misses bats at 8.95 K/9, and while the 5.37 BB/9 is the one blemish, the run prevention has been the real deal. He's the top-priced arm on the slate and gives this lineup a high-floor anchor with strikeout upside.
Nolan Schanuel (C/1B, $2,800)
In limited AB's vs Ryne Nelson — .500 AVG / .667 OBP / .500 SLG / 1.167 OPS in 2 AB (1 H). Schanuel is a value play against Nelson, a righty serving up a loud 2.00 HR/9 with a 5.36 xERA and a 43.6% HardHit% allowed. With the Chase Field roof closed it's a neutral indoor setting, and Schanuel's elite 15% strikeout rate and .761 OPS vs RHP make him a steady on-base piece at catcher.
Brandon Lowe (2B, $3,700)
In limited AB's vs J.T. Ginn — .500 AVG / .500 OBP / 2.000 SLG / 2.500 OPS in 2 AB (1 H, 1 XBH, 1 HR). Lowe brings serious thump against right-handed pitching — a .940 OPS with a .320 ISO and 13 home runs in 205 PA vs RHP. Ginn loses the strike zone against lefties at a 4.99 BB/9, and even with Sutter Health Park playing mildly pitcher-friendly in the heat, Lowe's contact quality and Ginn's control issues make this a strong spot.
Junior Caminero (3B, $3,600)
In limited AB's vs Eric Lauer — .250 AVG / .500 OBP / .500 SLG / 1.000 OPS in 4 AB (1 H, 1 XBH). Caminero is the spend-up at third base against Lauer, a lefty serving up a brutal 2.56 HR/9 with a 5.23 xERA, and Dodger Stadium leans mildly hitter-friendly. Caminero punishes lefties to a .871 OPS with a 19.5% walk rate vs LHP, and his 49.5% HardHit% and .217 ISO give the spot real ceiling.
Mookie Betts (SS, $3,000)
Betts is a buy-low on elite talent in a regression spot. Nick Martinez carries a shiny 2.43 ERA, but his 4.45 xERA and a sub-5.10 K/9 flag a contact pitcher due to give it back, and Betts brings the bat-to-ball skill — a 12.2% strikeout rate vs RHP — to do damage when the regression comes against an arm this hittable.
Ryan Vilade (OF, $2,700)
In limited AB's vs Eric Lauer — .500 AVG / .500 OBP / 2.000 SLG / 2.500 OPS in 2 AB (1 H, 1 XBH, 1 HR). Vilade is the value piece next to Caminero in the same matchup against Lauer's home-run problem. He's hitting .311 with a .830 OPS vs LHP, a second cheap Rays bat with real upside in this spot.
Jo Adell (OF, $2,800)
Adell is in the same Angels group attacking Nelson's home-run-prone profile. He carries real raw power with a 45.5% HardHit%, and against a righty giving up 2.00 HR/9 in a neutral indoor park, his pop gives him legitimate ceiling in a cheap spot.
Lawrence Butler (OF, $2,400)
Butler is the value piece opening our Athletics pairing against Jared Jones, a righty with a 5.26 xERA who's allowing hard contact at a 46% HardHit% clip. Butler brings real raw power and a 45% HardHit% of his own, a cheap leverage piece in a home matchup against a beatable arm.
Nick Kurtz (UTIL, $4,400)
Kurtz is the spend-up among the hitters and the centerpiece of the Athletics side. He's been elite against right-handed pitching — a 1.038 OPS with a massive 24% walk rate and a .468 OBP in 216 PA vs RHP, backed by an 18% Barrel% and 57% HardHit% on the season. Against Jones' exposed line, his blend of power and on-base skill is the highest-ceiling bat in this game.
The lineup at a glance — Walbert Ureña anchors with run-prevention skills and strikeout upside. The Angels pair of Schanuel and Adell attacks Ryne Nelson's home-run-prone profile, the Athletics duo of Butler and Kurtz goes after Jared Jones' exposed line, and the Rays pair of Caminero and Vilade sits on lefty Eric Lauer's home-run problem, with Betts and Lowe rounding it out in plus spots. Four of the eight bats — Schanuel, Lowe, Caminero and Vilade — line up against the exact pitchers they've performed against historically. We're a touch under cap.
Let's have a big night! 💰🔥
